Corporate finance involves managing a company’s financial activities to maximize shareholder value. Professionals in this field focus on budgeting, financial planning, and analyzing investment opportunities, ensuring the company’s capital is allocated efficiently. They also oversee financing strategies, such as raising capital through debt or equity, and manage financial risk. The goal is to maintain financial health, support growth, and increase profitability for the organization.

Career Growth: Corporate finance roles offer lots of room for growth. Typically, people going into corporate finance desire to reach executive levels of leadership at the companies they work for. Promotions within corporate finance are highly rewarding, offering greater responsibility, benefits, and decision-making ability in the company. It is exciting for many students to be able to work for a company that they have always loved and make an impact in that company’s future.

Work-Life Balance: Corporate finance offers high paying careers with a standard 9-5 M-F work week. Many students at BYU enjoy this because it allows for lots of time with family while also providing the means for a good living. Students can count on a 40 hour work week and not needing to take work home with them.

Sophomore-
BYU OCI. External Financial Analyst Internship. Identify Target Companies to Recruit for Junior year.

Junior-
Heavy networking in summer/fall of Junior year. Build Network into Target Companies.

Senior-
Full-time Offer. Finish Degree.
